For Advanced Learners (B1–>B1+)

Do you already have a solid foundation in Dutch (B1 level) and want to become more fluent and confident when speaking? Then this course is for you. The focus is on active language use: you will practise speaking extensively in a variety of situations, such as at work, in social settings, and during discussions. You will continue to expand your vocabulary and learn how to express yourself effectively in different contexts, enabling you to communicate more naturally and precisely. It is expected that you already have a good command of the most important grammar topics; during the lessons, you will refine your language skills and work on accuracy and correctness. You will also learn more about Dutch culture and society, helping you not only understand the language better but also feel more at home in the Netherlands.

Duration: 16 weeks × 2-hour live online lessons with a teacher (32 contact hours in total) in a group of 5–6 students.
Lesson schedule: weekday evenings or weekends, depending on the course start date.
Learning materials: course book and e-learning platform with interactive multimedia exercises, included in the total price (€780.00).

In this course, we use the Vooruit course book. The book will be sent to your address by post (both the book and shipping costs are included in the course fee). In addition, you will receive 20 weeks of access to the Academy Edu-Dutch e-learning platform, which includes extra homework assignments, videos, reading materials, and interactive exercises that complement the course book. Together, they provide the perfect combination for learning and retaining new vocabulary, gaining a deeper understanding of Dutch culture and society, and becoming more confident when speaking Dutch.

During the live lessons, all language skills are covered, including writing, reading, listening, and speaking. You will practise and apply the material you have prepared before class.

Throughout the course, there is a strong focus on speaking, and you will learn how to respond naturally and appropriately in a variety of situations. We also explore Dutch culture and customs in greater depth, as understanding traditions and social conventions will help you communicate more effectively and feel more at home in the Netherlands.

To prepare for each lesson, you will work with a text and/or video about the Netherlands or other relevant topics. This will help you expand your vocabulary, improve your comprehension skills, and develop the confidence to discuss a wide range of subjects in Dutch.
