If you have an A1-level foundation in Dutch and would like to expand your vocabulary, learn to use past tenses, and practise conjunctions, this course is the perfect choice. The course is available in English or Polish. You can study at your own pace and on your own schedule through our Academy Edu-Dutch learning platform, with access to video lessons, interactive multimedia exercises, and course books delivered directly to your home.

Let's talkFor this level (A1–A2), you will receive two course books by post, included in the course fee. In addition, you will get access to our Academy Edu-Dutch e-learning platform, featuring more than 50 video lessons and over 80 multimedia exercises that complement the course books. This combination provides an effective and enjoyable way to learn and retain new vocabulary, review grammar explanations, and gain the confidence to communicate in Dutch.
The video lessons cover all language skills, including writing, reading, listening, and speaking. Vocabulary and grammar are also key components of the course.
You can study Dutch at your own pace and on your own schedule. The A1–A2 e-learning course consists of 16 modules, each containing 3–4 video lessons. At the end of each module, you can take an online test as many times as needed. Once you achieve a score of 75% or higher, you can continue to the next module. After Modules 8 and 16, there are online exams. Upon passing these exams with a score of at least 75%, you will be eligible to receive a certificate.
The first part of the course (Modules 1–8) begins with describing your strengths, weaknesses, and emotions while expanding your vocabulary. You will then explore topics such as body parts and physical appearance, illnesses and health, making an appointment with a doctor, the difference between making an appointment and arranging to meet someone, ordering fries or food in a restaurant, education and learning, school, and office supplies.
Grammar topics in this part of the course include comparative and superlative forms, word order in longer sentences, the imperative, diminutives, the present perfect tense, and many useful words and expressions commonly used in everyday conversations.
The second part of the course (Modules 9–16) begins with talking about the weather in the present, future, and past. You will practise speaking in different tenses and become more confident in everyday communication. Topics include childhood memories and family life, making complaints, travel and holiday plans, Dutch food culture and gezelligheid, sports, and Dutch traditions such as cycling and ice skating.
Grammar topics include the past simple tense, separable verbs in different sentence structures, conjunctions and their use, reflexive verbs, the Dutch word er, and practical language structures frequently used in daily communication, such as bezig zijn met and zitten te.
After completing this course, you will be ready to continue with the A2–B1 Dutch course.
After your purchase, you will receive access to the e-learning course on our Academy Edu-Dutch platform within 24 hours by email. You can log in using your email address and the password provided by us.
We will then send the two course books by post (PostNL) to the address you provided during checkout. You can expect to receive the books within 5 business days.

Prefer to study a little more slowly or take occasional breaks? No problem. You will have access to the course for 12 months, giving you plenty of flexibility to learn at a pace that suits your schedule.
On our Academy Edu-Dutch platform, you can take a test after each module. A score of 75% or higher is required to pass. In total, the course includes 16 module tests.
After completing the final module of each course section (Module 8 of Part 1 and Module 16 of Part 2), you can take an online exam. If you achieve a score of 75% or higher, you will pass the exam and be able to download a certificate from the platform confirming the level you have completed.
